After trying to install Windows XP from scratch myself, five times without success, I contacted Nick. He arrived on time as promised, with a three point plan to discover the reason for my problems. He needed to take away my computer to complete the job and it was ready the following day. So within 24 hours of first emailing Nick to find out whether he could fix my computer, I had a machine that is a good as new. Unlike some computer experts I know, Nick explained what he was doing in a language I can understand, what he was doing, what he needed to do, and indeed what he did, to bring my computer alive again. The Institute of Clerks of Works called on In Ctrl twice last year to assist with IT problems. Both times, the service was excellent. We are a small business, who require assistance from someone with a good all round knowledge of IT, and that is what we got. Nick first helped us with an email problem and later gave advice and support in setting up an external drive that would provide us with image backups. Nick was only too happy to show us how to perform the backups ourselves, talking through the procedure step by step, hence saving us the cost of an engineer to repeat the procedure next time. I would like to say a big thank you for all your help over the past year. At my year end nick saved the day. My computer decided to throw a tantram and lose all my years work. i tried to reinstall from my back up but nothing happened. I then had a breakdown. Then i saw nicks advert so with nothing to lose i rang nick in a panic explained what my nice computer had done to me (i am sure he thought he had a mad woman on the end of the phone). don't worry was the reply from nick. he came out worked his magic and within about 10 minutes everything was back on my computer. miracle. nick then explained one of his many services he offers is to back up peoples computers on his little black box. nick backed up my computer and does this throughout the year just in case my friend sid the computer decides to have another tantram. I'm fairly knowledgeable when it comes to building and fixing computers and I also run the www.nowyoudo.co.uk free computer security website, but I had a problem that stumped me, a total computer freeze a minute or so after loading windows, even the clock stopped working. I had an idea of the cause and I tried everything that I could think of to fix the problem, and that's a lot believe me.
There was data on the computer that I hadn't backed up and didn't want to lose, so in the end after a few more grey hairs I gave in and called Nick who was able to get me up and running again in 30 minutes allowing me to backup the data. Before Christmas I was being driven mad trying to switch my Internet access from dial up to Broadband. My poor old PC was besieged with Spam and everything was soooo slow.
